PROJECT CAMBODIA press release
Ming Nomchong is a photographer living in Sydney. She has a degree in Fine Arts Photo Media from COFA UNSW and is an avid traveller. She has explored many diverse countries in her travels, some of which include Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Spain, Cambodia, Vietnam, and many more.
On September 2nd 2006, Ming will travel to Phnom Penh, Cambodia for 4 weeks to spend time with Cambokids.
The purpose of this trip is to create a photographic body of work that she will bring home and exhibit to raise funds for the children of Cambodia.
She will be exposed to and immersed in the hardships and rewards of everyday life within the community, photographing the people she meets in and around the orphanage.
Through this documentation Ming will create a work that embodies the beauty of the human spirit through compassion, support and determination.
This project as aimed at exposing the importance of support and assistance for other developing communities as well as presenting an idea of the nature, lives and culture of Cambodia.
www.spotmingsblog.blogspot.com has been set up to track the development of Project Cambodia from its very beginning stages to the trip Ming will take in September all the way through to the opening night of the exhibition. It has been set up to encourage the viewer to get involved, be informed and to spread the word about this inspiring project. To help fund the success of Project Cambodia, Ming is raising money to donate to Cambokids when she arrives in Phnom Penh as well as looking for sponsorship and donations for the production costs of putting on this exhibition.
Donation and sponsorship is needed for various aspects of the project including:
o Professional printing and framing/mounting of photographs for exhibition
o Donated/rental space to hold exhibition
o Printing of invitations /flyers /postcards for promotion, marketing and advertising
o Prizes and things for auction for a fundraising night (to be held in Aug)
